I revamped this a little and changed some facts.
I don't have a background story for him yet, but yes, his name is HORO. Stygian is a reference name, conducive to the use of Taoist alchemy/magic.
About that ~ it's not a happy magic. It's almost parasitic, and it hurts to use it. Horo on any normal given day is a humble, quiet figure who loves meditating and dwelling in the present. He also enjoys fighting, because it brings him closer to the fine line between truly living and ceasing to be contained within the physical flesh.
No, he's not insane. And no, he's not seeking some far fetched nirvana. He just wants to live life to the fullest.
He's very open, and as intimidating as he looks, knows a good joke or two.
